Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
I have just come across your Revolution Pi device. Very nice looking. I was wondering if you have a solution that would allow connecting one or more Profibus DP slave devices (eg, a Profibus pressure transmitter) to the RPi ?
Re: Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
Hello GeoffS,
yes, we have a Profibus DP-V0 slave module which is available here
https://revolution.kunbus.de/shop/de/re ... ibus-slave
We have a small tutorial how to setup with the RevPi unforutnately currently just in german.
https://revolution.kunbus.de/tutorials/ ... figurieren
But fortunately the product manual is available in english, here:

Just realized thatt you have asked to connect PB slaves to our RevPi. Sorry but that is actually only possible when there is a master device on the PB bus (like a PLC) on which the RevPi could be another slave.

Re: Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
Thanks for the reply Dirk and the information on your slave modules. Yes, I was looking for a module to act as a Profibus master on the RPi (so we could avoid having a PLC as the master).
Re: Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
Hi,
just to complete the information: we will release a modbus master /slave software stack (with ÜiCtory asa configurator) very soon and we will release a profiNet master software stack for the RevPi also in the 1st half of the year. A profiBus master hardware module is under construction but will probably not be released this year.

Re: Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
Sorry for my ignorance, but does this mean, that with the profiNet master stack, we could read values from an inverter with a profiNet IO device interface, when there is no PLC on the network? If so that's what we are looking for.
Re: Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
Yes that is something you could do. But I can't give you a definite release date for the stack.

Perfect, can't wait for it.
we have a setup to test it right away

Re: Connecting Profibus slave devices ?
Hello There,
Is there any new information regarding the software for generating a profinet master?
We would be very interested in using it.
Please send me a message, once it is released, please.
Best regards,
Guilherme
