login via ssh does not work

I took over the revolution pi from a colleague, which is not in the company any more and face problems @log in:
He told me to use a console and ssh pi@10.0.0.90, then enter the password.
But the console sends back pi@10.0.0.90: Permission denied (publickey).
I cannot even enter the password?
browser and IPadress 10.0.0.90 worked, there I log in with admin and the password, no problem. But I need to look into the directories, I did not a see a way to do it this way.
the same when using putty from a windows PC
All tutorials and manuals just tell: enter via ssh with pi@ipadress ....

The ip-adress is correct, and there is not even a chance to enter the password, why?

found a solution: the revpi had a Authenticaton yes in the sshd config file, I changed it back, then connection was possible
