Hi yes this is a problem which often occurs. Just have a look at the FAQ here "I want to save or restore a system image. Why does RPiBoot.exe not connect to my device?"

I've spent a whole weekend trying to connect via RPIboot.exe and know, its pain in the a** because this software tool has a lot of problems.

Please try other USB ports of your Windows computer AND try different USB cables!

I've tried 3 cables now and the first cable isnt working, the other two cables are working. All cables are working fine with other devices!

Now I have a configuration where it works with one short 50 cm cable (have to sit under my table) and when I extend this cable with a 3 m USB extension cable, the PC has serious problems like opening explorer needs 20 seconds and I think this is caused by the driver of RPIboot. Extending it with a 1 m cable and it works better, but not stable.
