Hey!

I have a RevPI DIO and I would like to connect a BLE dongle to it. Anyone succeed doing it? Are there any dongles available compatible with Wheezy?

Thanks!!

May I ask if you mean RevPi Core? You could not connect any USB device directly to a DIO module. And is there any specific reason not to upgrade to Jessie?

Hi!

Yes sorry! I mean I have both connected (RevPi Core with RevPi DIO).

I can use Jessie as well. So, do you know some Bluetooth (v4.1 or more) dongles compatible with the Jessie distribution?

Thanks!

Please refer to RPi articles about BLE, e.g.
http://elinux.org/RPi_USB_Bluetooth_adapters
KUNBUS has not used BLE yet so we have no own experiences with any specific dongle. It seems there are tons of dongles working with Raspi and thus will work with RevPi too. But there seem also to be several dongles NOT working with Raspi and thus will possibly also NOT work with RevPi (see link above). I also assume there might be differences in which profiles are supported by the Debian drivers.
Good luck and please let us know which dongle has worked for your application.

Hey!

I've just try it and it works!

The system is the following:
- Revolution Pi: RevPi Core
- Bluetooth USB dongle: http://www.dx.com/p/bluetooth-v4-0-csr4 ... YA-iuklGUm
- Software distribution: Jessie (https://revolution.kunbus.de/shop/de/jessie)

Cheers!

Thanks for this information!
Are you using any specific BT profile?

No, just advertising data from a sensor!

I was also trying to use the IPv6 over BLE feature. However, this dongle only supports Bluetooth 4.0 and the one required is 4.1 at least. I carried on searching newer Bluetooth USB dongles, but I was unable to find them :(.
