Connecting sensor to AIO

Post by Nilsi123 »

Hi,

I am trying to connect this sensor to the AIO:
https://www.lem.com/sites/default/files ... -p_sp1.pdf

I do have connection and power to the core + AIO, and have them on my PiCtory.
I am not sure on which inputs on the AIO to use, nor which input range to set under the "Value Editor".

Any help please? Thanks!

Hello,
please connect the sensor to the IN 1 interface. Connect the red cable to 24 V and the black cable to 0 V. The yellow cable of the sensor must be connected to pin 28 of the AIO and the green cable to pin 24 of the AIO. As this is a current measurement you have to connect pin 26 to pin 24 of the AIO.
In piCtory you have to enter the following values.
AIO_4mA_20mA.png
AIO_4mA_20mA.png (4.23 KiB) Viewed 5861 times
Now you have to save the configuration "Save as Start-Config." and "Reset Driver". Now you can query the measured value of the sensor with “piTest -r InputValue_1”.

Best regards

Hello Nilsi123,
were you able to get the sensor to work or are there still problems?

Hi,

Yes, but i changed the settings to 0-10V insted of 4-20mA.
InputMultiplayer: 1
InputDivisor: 1
InputOffset: 0

With the 4-20mA the AIO blinks red on the "IN", even when i dont have a sensor connected.
So now I am reading values in the piTest where 988 Dec = 0mA and 1432 Dec = 500mA. So this is great! Thanks for the help. If you do have an answer on why the "IN" is blinking red that would be super.

The meaning of the LEDs is explained here „Range error “A too high a voltage or too high a power supply at one or more inputs”.
What I don't understand, according to the data sheet of the sensor, the sensor delivers a current from 4mA to 20mA and no voltage.

It worked better with 4-20mA, then it does show in mA when meassuring. It still blinks red but so what? It works!

The sensor probably delivers values less than 4mA or values greater than 20mA, therefore the IN LED flashes.
