Flex Bridge?

Post by agabriel »

Retrofits in 4"-deep panels cannot accommodate the Rev.Pi form factor with the DIN rail installed on the back plate. It takes a 6"-deep panel minimum.
However, up to 4 Rev.Pi modules can be easily accommodated on the side of a 4"-deep panel.

I was wondering if a flexible version of the bridge is available so that I can populate a 4"-deep panel with up to 3 rows of 4 modules, using regular bridge connectors between modules in each group and connecting the groups with a flex bridge (like a tape cable with two bridge connectors?).
Thanks.

Sorry but no. The PiBridge is not designed for placing modules in a distance. 1st of all there is no way to get the plugs with cable on (the plugs are a custom design). 2nd the physics of the signals are not compliant to longer distances (that is e.g. why we only allow up to 5 modules per side).
BUT: At SPS/DRIVES Show in November 2017 we have already shown the prototype of our now RevPi compact which has been designed to fit in ordinary electrical sub-distribution cabinets like those found in private houses. The RevPi compact has built in IOs (digital and analog), 2 Ethernet connectors and 4 USB as well as RS485. The schedule for starting to sell this device is Hannover Fair 2018.

Are there any beta of the compact Pi that we can start testing before the Hannover Fair?
We are looking at options for a healthcare application and the RevPi solution appears to fit the requirements. Currently we have deployed emPC-A/RPI3 by Janztec.
