Fuse for RevPi Connect and DIO Module

I'm powering my Revpi Connect and DIO modules directly from a 24VDC supply, and am curious what size fuse to install. It seems that the assembly as a whole is generally drawing in the 0.5A range. Should both the Revpi Connect and the DIO module get their own fuses? What current rating should these be? Thanks!

Hello Eric, you can see in the data sheet of the modules what power it consumes. Out of this you can then lay out the fuse. For example, the DIO module has a power consumption of 1.5 Watt on the X4 connector. It's best to take a slow fuse so that it doesn't trigger when you switch it on. Basically one fuse per device is better.
It is important that you secure the external peripherals separately. That means what is connected to the X2 connector of the DIO module, for example.

Thanks for the reply Dirk. When you say "It is important that you secure the external peripherals separately", do you mean that I should fuse every one of the power inputs to the DIO module? There are three 24V lines in total... two on the X2 connector, and one on the X4. Does each of these three need to be fused? Thanks

Hi Eric, it is important to separate the X2 and X4 power supplies from each other. Then a short circuit on the I/O will not affect the communication of the modules. But if you even want to enhance the safety you may add more fuses according to your needs.
