could not ssh in to a new Rave Pi

I connected my new Rave Pi to the network and I was able to log in using the web interface.
But I could not log in using ssh.
I tried credentials from the sticker on the device, but that didn't work so I tried either user: pi or : admin, but no combination would let me in.
Note: after entering any username, I never got a password prompt.

I tried downloading a "fresh" Jessie image, and I was succefully able to write it after following the guide, but now it won't even show up on the network.
What are my next steps?

Do I need to get a display hooked up or is there another way to get a CLI via USB?

I did reload the Jessie image successfully, but it will not show up onn the netwotk.
Do I need to change anything in the config file after loading the image? or what are my next steps?

Yes in order to reset the password and the MAC address according to the values on the sticker just run the tool revpi-factory-reset and reboot.
